Is gmail cooler than IMAP+SSL with SMTP/TLS and SquirrelMail (for when you don't have an IMAP client handy)?

Oh, and don't forget procmail.

Don't forget server-side spam checking (spamassassin) and content filtering (amavisd), virus scanners (f-prot, clamav, symantec, etc), SMTP-AUTH, encrypted passwords, a web-based user/domain management app, and virtual users and domains stored in a backend DB. : D

Definitely cooler than gmail.

Although, procmail with virtual users and domains is a bit tricky. Still working on that one.

I use a Bayesian filter written in Ruby, it works quite well at filtering the good from the junk, especially now that my host has turned on all the pedantic postfix options.

I handle viruses by matching the first line of the base64 encoded content. I think I am fairly reliably stripping out all zip files and PE-COFF binaries this way.

But my understanding was that Google handled that spam filtering stuff for you.

Yeah, who's more important, the wedding of somebody I don't even know, or me? Sounds like you've got your priorities all wrong.
