Coming down from a high

*dances around the computer screen*

First I want to say I am so sorry to everyone on my LJ because I haven't really made the time to keep up...I tried...but I promise I will comment on everyone's journal in the next 24 hours! My family is still here and I took my cousin on the "Underground Tour" of Seattle.

I got to thinking...I hope I will be happy in Boston...it is so far away from my family (Ok, now I'm just being a wimp) *clear throat* I mean, what I meant to say is, I am going to miss the "Emerald City" :)

I feel very loved by Gillette at this time though. I received an e-mail at 6:51AM EST that I would be extended an offer sometime this week. I received a phone call around 11:59PST time from an HR person at Gillette, however, they got bounced to my voicemail because everyone and their mom called me today! lol...I called the lady at Gillette back right away, but she stepped away from her desk. She called me back at 2:12PST time and I had the phone on silence, fortunately I checked it shortly after and promptly returned her phone call at 2:18PST. :) She told me my salary which is...

$55,000 a year PLUS benefits...AND

unfortunately I sort of spaced out after that because I was thinking, God that is a lot of money for one of 22 years...lol...I also did a salary calculation on an Entry-Level position in what I would do and the amount starting in Boston should be $42,136(low)-$47,198(median)-$52,814(high) so I am pretty damn high on the chart...*blown away* OMG...

And it was soooo cute. I realized, I need to accept before I get hired!!! lol...so I told the HR lady I accept and she got so excited she was like, "OMG, this is so exciting, I am so happy, Welcome to Gillette, you've totally made my day" She's nice...lol...I got along with her very well when I interviewed with her on the phone and in person!!!

Oh...and ronalum thanks for the card and money!!! LOL...money is always welcomed ;)

Seriously though...I am pretty damn blown away...on top of that...I have BENEFITS OMG...*sigh* lol...I will have to give more detail on that later, because like I said, I sort of spaced out. Oh yeah, my employment is actually contingent on two things:

1. References
2. Drug Test

Not too worried about references, I even e-mailed her 3 more she could call...lol...as for drug test, I'm so not stressing that because I've never done anything in my life. I'm the type of girl who tried a puff of one cigarette at age 13, and didn't get drunk until her 21st. I do recall drinking a couple of glasses of wine when I was 19, but I was dating someone who was 21. :) So we celebrated once in awhile, but nothing big.

Oh...and for those of you interested...

I start July 14th

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...so my life for the next month?

June 22-29 Cruise
June 30-July 5 Pack
July 6-10th Drive and then look for a place to live!!! :)

My life is almost perfect...there are just a couple of things that I need to tweak and it's there...

I LOVE IT Damn I'm excited...

Well thank you!!! :)

heh That's kind of depressing. I'm in my second year at my job and I make a tick more than what you started at.

However, my salary is waaaaay above the ave. in KS. Gotta love that lower cost of living!
Jun. 17th, 2003 10:52 am (UTC)
Oh well...lol...so my salary is bad? It's expensive to live in Boston!

Hehe. I always laugh in the face of drug tests. The first time I ever *really* had a drink was about four months before I turned 21. Other than that, whenever I face a drug test people ask me why I'm not nervous. I tell them there's no reason for me to be nervous...and then ask why they're so nervous. Hehe

To where are you going on a cruise?
Jun. 17th, 2003 10:53 am (UTC)
I am going to South Mexico on the West side!!! So...Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabos San Lucas!!

I am so DAMN proud of you! Luck is defined as preparedness meeting opportunity, and you handled both so well. In short, you really deserve this Natalie, because you have earned it. You are welcome in response to your thank you for the card and it's contents. I also sent you a Mercedes convertible, but I guess it got lost between here and Germany. If it ever shows up I will drive it to Boston and present you with the keys in person!

YEAHHH!!! A new car!!! Wow, thanks Ron!! How about some living room furniture to boot? lol...

Congrats Natalie. That's pretty damn awesome. I remember how depressed I was when I got out of college and some of my friends landed big paying jobs like that, and I was working for peanuts....and I so deserved to be making at least as much if not more than them. LOL

Anyway, things come to different people at different times and in different ways. You got yourself off to a great start!

And even with the higher cost of living, you should be pretty happy with that salary. XD

Jun. 18th, 2003 12:30 am (UTC)
I am excited...and that's ok about leaving me, I never got your last message because my computer froze on me and I didn't get to catch your reply :p
Jun. 18th, 2003 07:26 am (UTC)
You SHOULD be. Thats VERY good starting pay, especially in this economy... Probably means they will fast track you for management or something like that. (They did that to me - not management, architecture but very similar - and I started lower than that in a field that on average pays better *grin*)
And more important is that it sounds like something you will like doing. ... and you should swing by NC on your way to Boston, I'll take you out to a fancy resterant like McDonalds or maybe the famous southern resterant BoJangles *grin*
Jun. 18th, 2003 10:24 am (UTC)
Yup!!! It is a fast-track to management...you are so smart Greg :)
Jun. 18th, 2003 11:13 am (UTC)
lol, given the way they treated you and the pay it was pretty easy to spot ;)...
Jun. 17th, 2003 05:04 pm (UTC)
Wow, congrats on the job and great salary :)
Jun. 18th, 2003 12:30 am (UTC)
