For my next rotation...I chose 4 out of 15 that I would like to do...

  1. GIS Productivity - this would cause me to work in Southie (blegh), my tasks would include VB and C scripting for testing plans and requirements of applications...*sigh* and I told myself I would never program...but I thought it might be a little fun to get back into doing some coding...
  2. Server Consolidation Project - this would also cause me to work in Southie, however the joy of this? I would get to learn more about UNIX
  3. Business Systems: Global Sales & Marketing - ugh...Woburn...This will include me creating forecastin/simulation tools, ad-hoc tools...et cetera...et cetera...I would be supporting the Sales & Marketing side of Gillette
  4. Global Integration Management: Global Process Management Services - ugh...Woburn...I would have more hands on work with SQL :)

Whee...I would prefer Southie to Woburn...

#2 sounds interesting.

#1 sounds kind of sub-par for you. Testing plans? Not fun. You might actually have better coding experience with #2. VB sucks and, well, C scripting doesn't exist.

#3. Ad-hoc tools. Ouch. Yeah. Good luck with that.

#4 -- which SQL? And doing what?

#2 Hmm...I am going to find out more information on this it would be great if I could get it.

#1 You think so? I would have to learn to code for both #1 and #2 so I guess it wouldn't really matter...

#3 & #4 I REALLY don't want to drive to Woburn... :p

Door #2 is a good choice.
What exactly do you want to know? The programmers I work with could not even care about how Unix works. They see me put on my wizard hat and poof it's all good....

Yes, I was hoping for the second one, unfortunately at the stage the project is in it would not be a good idea for me to get involved with it. :( If I had more Unix Admin experience I would...*sigh* ahh well...
